Nasi Lemak

Oohhoo...char siew bao is now on his way to the beauty town (Ipoh) for the next 10 days, for work of cus. Pity me, I'm going to munch on plain bread for lunch and cook maggie mee tonite for dinner. Takkan go out for dinner alone rite? I'm hopeless in direction anyway :p

Meiyen's cashless 7-7-7 post reminds me that I did some cooking few weeks ago, but a rather lazy version...hehe.

That fine day, I was in the mood for something lemak and spicy so I decided to cook my own nasi lemak! That was my first time experimenting on this coconut rice actually and I don't even have a proper recipe at hand.

Presenting... the ingredients to cook nasi lemak the lazy way...

The essential coconut milk to make your nasi (rice) lemak-y (creamy). I opted the 'lower fat' version, no compromise on the taste though, still smell nice and fragrant. But you can always look for the 'full fat' artery clogging version from the indian grocery stores.

haha...told you I'm the lazy cook. Instead of pounding curry spices, chillies, garlic and onion, I bought a packet of Seri Murni Curry paste and Maggie's sambal paste.

Sliced some cucumbers, boiled two eggs and fried some ikan bilis using microwave.

Then...the final product...

Err...not bad I thought. It's my first time cooking nasi lemak okay. But the rice tasted abit different from those roadside nasi. Hmm...my rice tasted something like those pulut with coconut cream. Maybe I should have added pandan leaf. Okay, noted.

Selling cheap, one plate for RM15.90. Anyone?

Wah, looked delectable. :P
Yeah lor, next time put in pandan leaves for better aroma. LOL over 'frying' ikan bilis with microwave oven!

Yum! Yum! Home made is still the best. U can put pandan leaf and ginger for fragrance.

yalor. now i noe pandan leaves are a must! Actually it's very easy to 'fry' ikan bilis in microwave. Still crispy n yummy minus the oil spill.

boo:
Thanks! noted. Nvr noe that ginger can be added to cook nasi lemak.
