Shokudo, the Japanese Marche

Imagine a caucasian wearing kimono or a japanese girl with blonde hair & blue eyes. That was my very first impression when I stepped into Shokudo. Tapping on the dining concept of the ever famous Marche Movenpick, Shokudo's move to translate it into Japanese style certainly excites me.

Like any bazzar-style restaurant, you'll be given a meal card to order food from each stall, which I find it abit troublesome. Heck, I'm getting lazier and lazier nowadays, I just wanna get seated and wait for the restaurant crew to serve me and bring food to my table.

Bar none, it was quite fun walking around and get to see the way the crew prepares the food (pathetically slow actually). Shokudo is divided into a number of sections and territories, from sashimi & sushi counter to ramen section, tempura stall and dessert corner etc...

Drinks
Japanese Pizza
Miso Stew
Mushimono
Japanese Dessert
Japanese Gelato *Eyes Glowing*
Tempura

We had the Sashimi Moriawase at $ 15. Fair enough, the fresh cut was pretty impressive for that kind of pricing. A good try.
As usual, the ramen fanatic can't leave a Japanese restaurant without having a bowl of ramen, no matter how bad it tastes. The verdict for this bowl of Char Siew Ramen? Bet you can tell from the look.

Yes I admit am a rice barrel. I went for their Katsu Curry Rice ($7.80). The curry flava was not memorable but at least it fares better than that bowl of ramen.
This plate of Unagi Tamago ($5.80) got me waited for quite some time. *Eyes rolled* I wonder why it took so long for him to cook an egg.
The gyoza ($5) was condemned by Mr. Ramen for being loaded with MSG. My only complaint was the stingy filling for that kind of pricing.
Heh heh...finally the highlight of the meal -- my Macha Float. Priced at $4, the scoop of macha ice cream came floated in a sea of macha latte & crushed ice.

I finished my macha float till the last drop but I was not done yet. I continued my journey of indulgence with another 2 scoops of Azuki Macha and Black Sesame from Ministry of Food. True bliss...I mean my ice-cream. A revisit to Shokudo? Hmmm...

The novelty to walk around and see what you can get .. is a great way to get ppl to come back and try other stuff. i keep forgetting that you are in singapore now.. and keep thinking the prices your wrote were in ringgit.. ;) now i understand.. why Mr Ramen thought the gyoza was ex. It certainly was..!

xiu long bao,
Among all the dishes you show here, I am only attracted to the Japanese Gelato. haha! Perhaps, I desperately want some dessert. Ahhhh...maybe I'll go for a McDonald Sundae Cone later. :P

yeah the ramen looked kinda sad..no pizza??

The two things which caught my impression are the matcha float and the sashimi.
Ramen looks pathetic and the curry katsu looks like the one served in my school canteen =X
But the concept is interesting!~
