Yo! Sushi @ Pavilion

Yet another farewell dinner ala Japanese...

Those who followed my blog would know that I'm a sucker for sushi and sashimi to the extent that I can have Japanese food 3 meals a day 7 days a week. Huh, so you think that I'm crazee? Am sure our gorgeous president of JFKA can do better.

I was tempted to try this sushi chain after hearing all the nice & good things about it. But when I suggested Yo! Sushi, my makan kaki who treated me with this farewell dinner was skeptical at first...
Eww...this sushi chain looks so commercialised.

What? A sushi chain from a gwai low country?

Are you sure it is worth trying ohh?

Oh yeah btw, the operator of this sushi chain, Farah Khan brought Yo! Sushi all the way from London to Malaysia. Huh? London? And apparently it is doing really good biz over there.

I almost gone crazee when I saw plates and plates of sashimi running on the conveyor belt in front of me. I grabbed a plate of salmon tataki, tuna tataki (seared sesame seed crusted salmon/ tuna with citrus dressing) and shiro maguro (premium butterfish), price range from RM12 to RM16.

For hot food selection, I had their vege gyoza (RM5), chicken firecracker rice and ramen (RM10-RM14).

People who loves refills would love Yo! Sushi as they offer unlimited refills for green tea and miso soup (RM5).

Now the verdict...

For sashimi, I was confused when I sank my teeth into the thick slices of premium sashimi. Not that the taste was extraordinary but the it was just so not right and doesn't appeal to me at all. Though the texture was lovely, I thought the fish which was sourced from the far away land of Norway & Scotland instead of Japan tasted different from the usual sashimi that I have in Japanese restaurants. Aside from that, the fish slices were juicy and fresh and the portion was reasonable for that kind of pricing.

As for the hotfood selection, it is titled towards fusion instead of the usual authentic Japanese style.

Anyway, don't take my word for it. Maybe I was not prepared for fusion fast food...Perhaps it is time for me to change...but I still prefer the good old Japanese dishes lah...

for me, the taste was not memorable lor, not worth for that kind of pricing. perhaps this is just another commercialised sushi chain.

U might wanna try Ichiban Boshi at Pavilion, located near the Yo! Sushi. its awesome! i love Japanese food, n this one is considered as my favourite.

Everytime walked past Ichiban Boshi and Yo!Sushi, didnt think much of entering either, due to pretty bad experiences in various japanese outlets, eg. Sakae Sushi, Yoshinoya. Sushi Groove looks groovy but scary la! how to enjoy food in complete darkness? how to take photo? ;) maybe may give Ichiban Boshi a try, as the crowd swells during peak hours ...

ahaha well, according to some of my friends who like sushi as much as i do, sushi groove is not that nice, i dunno though as I havent tried it myself, and fyi the sushi groove im talking about is the one back in my country, so i dont know about the one here. I had some sushi at Shook! the other day and it couldnt beat Ichiban Boshi hahaha. well i think they have to pay me for some promotion ;)

I've been this place last week. Food was normal. it's not worth the penny. The fried rice i ordered was very very small portion. the sashimi is oso not that fresh. then the waitress is not attentive. I wont go back to this sushi joint ever
