That day we maxed out his credit card at Max! for a wonderful dinner with max!mum satisfaction...by giving him the privilege to tease me for the whole nite...
'You better eat more tonite, there are no yabbies in singapore.'
'You will miss Malaysian food, their char kuey tiao is sweet.'
'You will miss your old work place cus your cubicle is going to be darn small.'
'Order more desserts, who knows the government might ban ice-cream in singapore like how they ban chewing gum.'
@_@
I have been longing to pay Max! a visit since months and months ago. Surprisingly, the food was really really good despite my sky high expectation on it after reading all the great reviews. This is a place that I would definitely revisit though I don't fancy western food.
Check out their colourful plates. Btw, I think my censoring technique still sucks, I thought I made her looked like a blind people wearing a pair of shades.
The lamb cutlet with mint sauce (RM50) was equally good. Again am not a meat lover but the chunks of lamb cutlet were very nicely done while retaining the juicy texture.
The best fish I have ever tasted in my life? Drumroll please...
Taadaa...cod fish it is!
A dainty piece of cod fish cassoulet with bacon, butter beans in chardonnay laced garlic broth (RM42). Sorry my otoro, even you have to rank after this piece of heaven sent fish.
We also had tuna loin seared rare with pan seared baby octopus and piparras chilli (RM28). Another must-try dish at Max!.
Lastly, we ended our meal on a sweet note with warm chocolate souffle and vanilla bean ice cream. Even my guy colleague who claimed that he doesn't have a sweet tooth (konon-nya) find the souffle delicious.

The bill came up to RM200 plus for 3 pax, including wine & beer. Absolutely worth every cent spent. Another excuse for me to come back to KL ... soon. .. for my cod fish.
Btw, heard from my colleague that the Braised Shiraz Wagyu Beef Cheeks with mushroom ragout (RM60) is another signature dish of Max!. Didn't try it this round as I pantang beef.
Mr. LKH, I think you should screw your neroteca plan and head to Max! first.

Your friend is right about Singaporean food. Their sweet char koay teow is 'nothing weird' until you check out their Hokkien Mee, Satay Bee Hoon and Wan Tan Mee! Food sucks here in Singapore but the dough ($$$) is yummy! Good Luck!
