Dimsum @ Imbi Palace.

It was Sunday morning...usually the piggy me will sleep till the sun shines on my butt. On that fine day, my mum bang on my door and shouted: 'We are going to Imbi Palace for dimsum'.
I was so excited and jumped out of my bed immediately cus I recalled that Lyrical Lemongrass gave a pretty good rating on this dimsum place.

Be amazed by the crowd. Always make reservation to avoid disppointment. But honestly speaking, I dun think the dimsum selection was that great. Maybe due to mass production on busy weekends?

It's me! 3 cute xiu long baos (shanghai steamed pork dumplings). Sadly, the dumpling skin was too thick and ermm...notice that cacat and pathetic looking dumpling at the back? @_@ Crystal Jade and Dragon-i definitely fare better.

Okay, this is the funny one...Crunchy roasted pork intestines which I dare not try it at all. My mum took one bite and spat it out immediately cus it tasted like sh*t. No kidding, I think the pork intestines were not cleaned properly. Yucks...

Szechuan LaMien. The spicy soup base was good but the noodles were abit hard.

Supposed to be very nice looking 'har gao' (prawn dumpling) with transculent skin. Ei...why the skin pecah already one?

Siew Mai (Meat Dumpling) topped with roe. Tasted fine but looked abit pale.

My fave lo mai kai (Chicken glutinous rice).

Steamed spicy pork ribs. Aiyorr...so porky.

haha...fluffy char siew bao (BBQ pork bun).

Century egg porridge.

Chicken feet. Hmm...another dimsum item that I dare not eat.

Steamed Lo Pak Gou (Radish Cake).

Lousy looking radish pastry which had our votes for being the most weirdo tasting dimsum item.

The deep fried 'sui gao' (minced meat dumpling) were too greasy to our liking.

Sad to say that I was not impressed by Imbi Palace's dimsum selection. Still prefer those good old kopitiam style dimsum places.

Location: Imbi Palace Restaurant. No. 8, Jalan Barat, Off Jalan Imbi, 55100 KL.

Hmmm.... i guest the quality control must be bad. My favourite dim sum would be Tai Thong Rest. at opposite Leisure Mall, Cheras. I would say one of the best within all the Tai Thong Rest. Dragon-i is good too. They do have their R&D department and u will always get to taste new product. There is a new rest. call SOHO at oneU, taste soso but very expensive, for example a bowl of porridge cost nearly RM20.

Like what you said .. the best tim sum is still found in hidden places. I never agree commercial location serves good dim sum. But we live in the city .. so sometimes ... no choice loh, right ?
