We dropped by Penang Village as we were attracted by its super big and comfy sofa.
Craving for authentic penang food? Go for it at Penang Village but mind you, the food is not cheap as you will have to pay 3 times more than penang hawkers' food.
For starters, we had pie tee (4 for RM 6.90). Each pie tee is loaded with ju hu char (I think) and topped with crunchy cashew nut and crabstick.
My comfort food--Penang Prawn Mee (RM8.90). Came with 2 really big prawns, hard boiled egg, chicken strips, kangkungs and loads of fried onions. The soup was flavourful and superb, but too oily to my liking.
Char Siew Bao's comfort food--Nasi tomato with rendang chicken (RM12.90), came with crackers, fried lobak and salad. I had one spoon of the tomato rice, it was tasty but again too greasy.
Char Siew Bao said he needs more fibre and vitamins so he ordered a plate of kailan with salted fish RM13.90, absolutely pricey for a plate of vege!
Ohh...i miss penang hawker food...

xiu long bao,
Salted fish got vitamin one meh? :P Anyway, I think the pie tees look a bit more special to me. Never had that before.
kok:
Haha, the vege contains vitamins la but i dun like having vege when eating out cus they r always cooked wiv excess oil...yux
That was my first time trying pie tee too! Tasted quite gud with chilli sauce.
xiu long bao,
true true. Somemore, eating vege is not worth the money when you eat out. I prefer ordering meat than vege. hehe.
If I have the chance, I would like to try the pie tee. :)
I've heard so much about Penang Village, I think I gotta check it out soon. Thx for the review! The nasi looks almost obscene. :-P
We usually eat the cooked dishes - they have a nice lotus root fried with cashewnuts dish.
kok: u can get pie tee from nyonya restaurants :)
lyrical lemongrass: the nasi??? wat s in ur mind? notty ah u :p
boo_licious: mmm...must try other dishes...lotus root fried with cashew nuts sound yummy :)
Hi xiu long bao! Been to Penang Village a few times and agree that their food quite pricey. Their otak-otak and nyonya fish curry (if not mistaken) quite nice, but like you said, quite oily.
halo precious pea, tasty food in KL always come wiv hefty price tag huh? btw, i found another dog lover! I hav a dog too ^_^ Here is the link for the post bout her:

When Penang Village first started in Desa Sri Hartamas, their tasty noodles only cost about RM6! After expanding their business, food quality got worst and prices got higher.
I think I've been here before (it's in Hartamas too)... but that time I didn't notice the signboard.
hey dos r comfort prices mah !
wmw: i think the food quality is still ok albeit too pricey for dat kind of serving :)
jason: halo. too busy eating till didnt notice the sign ? ^_^
teambsg: comfort prices? haha...
biggest fans of nasi tomato! KEKEKEKE
Penang food on Penang island on some Penang Road in some Penang shop still tastes the best! In other words, nuthin beats some good food from the original and yours truly Pulau Pinang a.k.a Penang!
Ok i also kepala Penang... i mean 'pening'!
:'p
citygal: haha...u luv tomato rice? i prefer briyani and claypot chicken rice. Btw, i luv rice ^_^
char siew bao: nxt time must explore hawkers' food beyond gurney drive.
xiu long bao ah,
here where got nyonya restaurant?:P
xiu long bao: no ah... tired and hungry la that time after 1 day trip around KL, so just walk in and eat lor :P

jason: hei, at least u stepped into a 'quite gud' restaurant wiv yummy penang food :)
sc: yummy fried mee suah? I normally had my mee suah in soup. Muz giv it a try on my nxt visit :)
meiyen: i didn't notice dat leung cha in the menu ^_^ seems dat everyone has their own favourite food n drinks from penang village.
xiu long bao: Yeah cos we were attracted by its decoration and cosy atmosphere. Luckily didn't step into the wrong place
Aiya, why the pai tee like that one? Not authentic liao lah...I must go home and teach them how to cook properly...quick quick come to Penang for the real stuff. ;)
jason: OIC...hehe, i was attracted by its cosy setting too.
rasa malaysia: haha...my first time having pai tee actually. I tot that the pai tee case is too oily :D Muz go penang for the real authentic pai tees...yummz
xiu long bao,
Don't want lah. I have been going back M'sia everytime during winter break (for different reasons of course). haha! I might visit some other states since this is my final year already.
kok: gud then. I also visited different states b4 come bck but didn't get to explore uluru.
Hi, if you like adventure in food you can try unfamous Myanmar Food. There is one Myanmar Restaurant in SOGO Department Store. Believe it or not. My friends and I tried several times. Find out how? Prices are low to fair.
