Bongsen @ Suria KLCC

Today is a pleasant day for me. Everyone is in holiday mood, I did heaps of shopping and had a wonderful dinner at Bongsen.
Bongsen is located at level 4 of Suria KLCC, a newly opened restaurant I guess. I decided to give Bongsen a try cus I was attracted by its claim as a restaurant with 'vietnamese and french flair'. But hei...where is the french element??? I was expecting some fusion food like maybe vietnamese french bread? (ooo...I'm just too imaginative)

Anyway, the food turns out to be quite good! Nice presentation too. And yeah...I love the cozy environment (as seen in the first picture).

A lovely picture depicting the paddy field in Vietnam.
Oh yes, I like rice! (P/s: Eat more rice meiyen, rice is good for you..hehe)
For drinks, we had 'Vietnamese Drip Coffee' (RM 8)--strong, aromatic with slighty smoky (or roasted) smell i think, definitely recommended for coffee lovers.

Grool...grool...I'm so hungry...Ohh here comes the food!

We ordered 'Simple Pleasures' (RM 12 per person) as starters which turns out to be really good...yum yum! It came with 6 different types of appetizers, ie sugar cane prawns, vietnamese spring rolls, deep fried spring rolls, chicken meat balls, mushrooms wraps and some crisps.

The 'Grilled Lemongrass Chicken with Rice' (RM18) was really flavourful, served with a tiny bowl of stir-fried aubergines, some tossed carrots, salads and lime chilli sauce (this sauce is wicked!).

Here comes my healthy 'Five-Colour Rice' (RM 12) ^_^, rice served with loads of green veges, lotus seeds, crunchy peanuts and a bowl of clear clam soup--a vietnamese version of 'hakka lui cha'. Ahah...not recommended for meat lovers.

Overall, I'm quite pleased with the food, the service and the environment. Will come back for more vietnamese flairs.

The bill: RM 70 for 2 persons

LOCATION: Lot 416, Level 4, Suria KLCC.

TEL: 03-21646313

Yay... I'm first to post a comment! Applause please..... clap clap clap clap clap clap clap clap!

Anyway, the food at this place is good. But the variety is quite limited... How limited u may ask? Well imagine a menu that is only 2 pages long, with two colummns at each page. 1 page is for vietnamese food, the other is local delights (i 4got wat delights @_@") and drinks. So sum it all up, and u havent much to choose from!

Nonetheless, i give it a thumbs up and P/S: Cheers to Vietnamese COFFEE!!!!!!!!!! ya-ha out!

bongsen was opened a couple of years ago, was there quite often as i used to work near that area.. yup, agree that the food is pretty good, but i personally prefer the vietnamese food in little saigon (you can check it in http://food-4-thot.blogspot.com/2006/08/little-saigon.html), which is cheaper and has a good variety of viet food. ambience not as good as bongsen though..:)

I love the food they serve, my all time favourite was the lemongrass beef soup noodle (pho) and the lemongrass beef cold noodle. It is one of the more authentic vietnamese cuisine that you can find in KL.
Unfortunately, it has closed down. The shoplot now is under-renovation for another Vietnamese Restaurant. I am not sure if it is the same owner/ chef.
