Food Foundry @ Section 17.

I know I’m kinda outdated to post this review now. Somehow it was my first exploration to this super secluded restaurant in Section 17 after drooling over the reviews about Food Foundry’s delicious Mille Crepe here, here, here, here, here, and here (Omg, this restaurant is so famous among floggers huh).

We ordered 2 tapas, 2 desserts and 2 mains which I believe that the portion is reasonable but the waitress gave us that strange look and asked us if we can finish off everything 0_o So embarrassing …

I had the Stir fried Udon with Kung Po Prawns (RM13.90). I was amazed by the generous serving of big fat crunchy prawns. The nudle strands were well coated with flavourful Kung Po sauce but the dish was darn oily.
Char Siew Bao went for the Chicken Cordon Bleu (RM14.90). Deep fried chicken chop with melted cheese on top? I already felt muak when looking at the dish.
For tapas, we had button mushrooms in olive oil (RM6.90) and Thai chicken wings (RM6.90).
A basket of bread to go with tapas. Found some bits of onions and herbs in the bread slices which made it so flavourful.
Wanted to try the Green Tea flavoured Mille Crepe but they were all sold out so I opted for the Strawberry Cream Mille Crepe (RM 9). Took one bite and I felt so disappointed, the texture of the Mille Crepe was too dry, maybe due to one whole day of refrigeration.
I was quite tempted by the dessert selection and ordered a slice of lemon tart (RM6.50).
The lemon custard was deliciously tangy and smooth, at least it tasted nicer than the Mille Crepe.

Oh yes, by the way, we managed to wolf down all the food :)

You're not the only one who's ketinggalan zaman. I just discovered Food Foundry last Saturday. lol. I only tried the Mille Crepe. I bought the whole cake, and it wasn't dry. Maybe it was fresher than the one you had. Going back again to try the other stuff.

Cheese on Cordon Bleu?? Prefer the traditional one with cheese inside, can see the cheese oozing out. Yummy!

Actually, 4. A friend who has been just cannot understand why the hype about this place & just refuse to take me. I'm lost in most of the sections & ss(es).

Used to be one of my fav hangout place with my friends. But recently their standard has dropped quite significantly. The price has went up a little as well while the portion has gone down. I noticed the staff there aren't the same anymore. Sad to say, I won't be revisiting them anytime soon.

I'm in the same camp as tankiasu. I really don't know why they took out some tasty items of their menu. Put in new but less tasty ones and hike up the price. The food doesn't taste as good as before and I haven't been there since Dec 06.

precious pea:Too bad cus i luv green tea flavoured desserts :( Nxt to try is the chocolate mille crepe n' apple pie then.

jason: I think there are some cheese or bacon stuffed inside the chicken chop. Too creamy for me...yeee...

tummythoz:haha, no.4 here! Their mains are quite gud wiv affordable pricing. Take the map along wiv u!

tankiasu:Really? My first time trying n i thought some of the mains are quite gud wiv generous portions.

wmw:Yeap, i noticed dat the price has went up recently. A ringgit or two. But still affordable if compared wiv other classy western restaurants.

LoL. Same here. Couldn't understand the hype over this place... Mille crepe was juz ok... or maybe it was really not fresh anymore...

Somemore the waitress asked "u sure u can finish ah?"

Well, appreciate the consideration but when it comes to eating, i eat like a pig and so far i have not ordered something i can't finish... unless it came rotten of coz! :P

I think Food Foundry does not serve good food as they used to. They changed the menu a few times ... but I think service quality is still there. Occasionally, aspiring artist perform on stage there. Lucky if you can catch them while they are doing their gig.

joe: hey, they served me linguine instead of udon too but i settled for dat. At least the pricing is affordable mar.

jason: So fatty wiv that combination!

teckiee:Too bad. Try another day! U might wan 2 try their famous mille crepe tho i dun like it. But heard dat other cake selections r quite gud too.

CSB:So embarrasing when she asked us dat ques 0_o

timothy:Really? Got free show sumore...I thought the food was not bad.

xiu long bao,
You and char siu bao definitely big eaters. haha! I don't think I can even finish half of the food. :P

Anonymous said...

LOL fatty but yummy! As you said, lepas makan baru bersenam :P

Xiu Long Bao said...

sc: Agree! the strawberry cream mille crepe was soooo disappointing. The original version is still available, must try it later.

kok: Sure or not. Not that much food lar, 2 mains, 2 tapas, 2 desserts...normal mah.

jason:Senam kuat pun tak dapat burn dat much kalori ohh...

Kok said...

xiu long bao,
Errmmm...oklah..Put it this way, if I'm really hungry, I don't think the food is enough for me. haha!

By the way, just curious here. The food sooo expensive in KL. For instance, this meal already costs you RM50+. How much do you all earn to cover all the monthly expenses ah? Since I'm graduating soon, so wanna do surveys on the market "price". :P

tankiasu said...

So bila wanna have lunch together my fellow Damansara corporate slaves!? :P

MeiyeN said...

hehe...somehow i don't quite like da mille crepe here... too sweet for my tastebuds!

"Joe" who is constantly craving said...

kok let me answer tat question..not much at all!..hopefully by next yr standard accounting grads rate r around 2200-2400..fingers crossed

Xiu Long Bao said...

kok: haiz, fresh grad doesn't earn dat much one orr. But we still need to eat rite? Eating out is pure comfort after a hectic day.

tankiasu:haha...i oni hav one hour lunch time. Wait till i move to that damansara heights area then we can go out for lunch!

meiyen:Really? Maybe the original flavour is too sweet? My strawberry cream was ok.

joe:PWC still havent review the pay meh? Once reviewed will be more than wat u stated (based on KP's rate) happy?

Kok said...

joe: How about engineers rate ah? haha! 2200-2400 ah? Hmm..Is it enough? I doubt so. hehe.

xiu long bao: Agree! No matter what, eat should come at first priority! haha! Without food, life is dull...:P

I am sorry to say this , but with the sec17 shop environment , the food is not worth the price. Just another overrated and over-priced restaurant by bloggers. Went for lunch, sweating like hell! Crepe tasted so so.
